Why is there no rest for the wicked?
I thought it was no rest for the weary?
Well them too.
Then who gets to rest?
The non-wicked and wide-awake?
That really doesn’t seem fair.
Who said anything about fair?
Me, just now, I think.
I mean outside of you, just now.
Oh, no one, I guess.
All right then.
I still don’t like it. I mean if the weary are, well, weary why shouldn’t they get to rest?
Because there’s always more to do. That’s the point. The weary never rest because there’s always more to do.
And the wicked get to rest because they’re insomniacs?
Possibly. But also, you know, being wicked, they’re always scheming. Which leads to not time to rest.
That’s just ridiculous. I’ve known plenty of wicked people who schemed a lot, and they all got a good night’s sleep in.
Maybe the saying was started by someone wicked to make other people think it was far more work than it is.
That would be wicked.
It would be wicked, in fact. Which makes me think it could even be true.
Truth and wickedness. Interesting.
Oh the truth is often wicked.
So does the truth get to rest?
There’s a lawyer joke in here somewhere.
When isn’t there?
Fair point.
Actually don’t they often ask for a court to rest?
Recess, not rest.
No recess for the weary!
If you’re tired you can’t go in the yard and play Marco Polo!
That’ll learn ‘em.
