Jake Sven? Have you ever wondered why we’re here?

Sven Because we desire vodka?

Happy Jake Yeah, but no I meant here, on Earth. Humans. Why we’re here.

Happy Sven Ahhh you mean the big question.

Jake I do.

Sven Of course I have. Hasn’t everyone?

Jake I guess so. Yeah, I mean, I guess everyone has thought of it at some point.

Sven Probably.

Jake So?

Sven So what?

Jake Why are we here?

Happy Sven I don’t know!

Jake But everyone thinks about it, so everyone probably has a guess, at least. What’s yours.

Sven Ahh, I see.

Jake Right.

Sven I don’t know.

Jake C’mon.

Sven No I mean it, I decided I simply don’t know. Not enough data.

Jake Seriously?

Sven Seriously. Look, I could say that we’re here to explore, or to be good people or something but how does that make sense?

Jake Well if you believe in God…

Sven I don’t.

Jake All right, but even then. I mean we’re just here? That’s what you think?

Sven Life happens. We know this. It happens and it more often than we might instantly think and why does there have to be a reason to that?

Jake I don’t know, I mean I like the idea of a higher purpose for our existence.

Sven As a race?

Jake Yeah!

Sven As people, I can see that. Pushing yourself higher, sire. Even helping the whole of humanity get to a better place, but I don’t see how that means we have a purpose.

Jake Well, what if our purpose is to make ourselves better.

Sven To what end, though?

Jake To… the end of… being better?

Sven That’s not really a purpose though, is it?

Jake I guess maybe not? We should have a purpose, is what I’m saying.

Sven Well maybe that’s it then.

Jake What?

Sven Our purpose is to find our purpose.

Jake That’s kind of chasing our tail lame, Sven.

Sven Oh, now it has to be a purpose that you like?

Happy Jake Well no, but why can’t it be?

Happy Sven It could be, sure, but it doesn’t have to be. Then again, hey, since we’re going to be the ones deciding what our purpose is there’s no reason it can’t be awesome.

Happy Jake It should be awesome!

Sven All right then, what would be an awesome purpose to you?

Jake What if we were here to… I have no clue.

Sven Well, you think on that, I’ll have another drink.

Happy Jake I’ll find something. You’ll see.

Happy Sven A plan for the entire human race, a plan that is awesome!
