Have you noticed that movies and TV are reversing themselves?
How so?
More and more TV shows are going toward the British model where they’re basically telling one long story with an end.
Didn’t they always?
No, come on, you have Cheers, it told stories, sure, but it ended when it had to, not a planned story arc ending.
Oh, right I gotcha, sure.
but not more and more shows like Lost or Battlestar Galactica…
they’re coming to a direct end.
Right!
All right, but how are movies doing the reverse?
They want to make franchises, and especially out of old TV shows that never had endpoints.
That’s just… wow… that’s… huh.
Right?
That’s sort of freaky. I hadn’t noticed it before. So movies want to be TV and TV wants to be movies?
I don’t know that it’s on purpose, but it sure looks funny. doesn’t it?
Yeah! And hey remember when a good movie would become a TV show and now it’s the other way around?
Oh hey, yeah! A lot of those were animated, weren’t they?
A fair share, I guess, but even so! Is it me or is that majorly shifting, too?
I don’t think it’s you.
This is almost spooky.
Uhm?
It’s like a Twilight Zone episode.
A TV show that had a movie once!
Yes, but come on. TV and movies, switching places. What’s next? Your books and magazines! And then… then they’ll come for youuuuuuuu!
I’m not sure how they’ll come for people.
Babies! Babies and adults switching places!
So your ultimate horror ending is Freaky Friday?
Oh god!
Yeah. Horrible.
Oh my god it’s full of Jodie Foster!
And we’re done.
What?
Merging a 2001 reference with a Freaky Friday reference? That’s a field penalty.
Is not!
Should be!
But it isn’t!
Should be!
Hmph. You’re just sorry you couldn’t think of it first.
I was going for one of the remakes, I was gonna whip out Fred Savage.
Then you would invoke the Power Glove! Are you ready for that sort of thing, Jacob?
The world wasn’t ready then, and I don’t think I’m ready now.
Then you’ll take your Jodie Foster and you’ll like it.
Fair enough.
Thank you.

Erik: Thanks!
Jonathan: You say that like there’s something wrong with Mork and Mindy…
December 10th, 2009 on 10:10 am
No no,i`m trying to draw reference to the timeline.Mork and Mindy isn`t exactly the newest show around. Besides,honestly..somehow..didn`t like it..>.>
December 10th, 2009 on 10:13 am
Yah didn’t like Mork and Mindy? Well, I can see that, I Guess. I mean it was a very strange little show.
December 10th, 2009 on 10:17 am
The only episode i liked is this one where Mindy was auditioning to be a stripper..and,well,I mean, seriously,if we really have life out there that dresses like that..i`m hoping we really are alone in this universe.
December 10th, 2009 on 10:22 am
HAhahah! Well it was the 70s!
December 10th, 2009 on 10:25 am
Hey man..don`t dis the 70s now..it gave us the Beatles,Floyd, the Doors and Spider Man.The 70s had the best shit!
December 10th, 2009 on 10:26 am
Oh I’m not! Just saying, the style of dress was very much of its time. So it had the best shit, and well, stuff like that.
December 10th, 2009 on 10:29 am
..he wore a bright orange suit that reminds you of that strip around signs on the road! He looked like one of those signs on the road, except inverse! The 70s had much better fashion..face it dude..Mork and Mindy was epic fail
December 10th, 2009 on 10:30 am
Have you seen any of Freddie Mercury’s outfits or Bowie’s from that time period? I’m telling you, that sort of thing was rock star fashionable in the 70s, man. It really was.
December 10th, 2009 on 10:33 am
Good sir,Freddy Mercury and David Bowie made music that tears one`s soul asunder with the melodies of tunes struck beneath the soles of a world shorn to bits by its plains of distance. They could be wearing little pasties, and we would`ve still loved them. They were the music man,not the dress. Now Mork? No music, nope, even his girl wasn`t that great..
December 10th, 2009 on 10:34 am
HAHAHAHA!
December 10th, 2009 on 10:35 am
I shall safely assume i have won the argument! *does victory dance*
December 10th, 2009 on 10:37 am
There is no argument. You don’t like Mork and Mindy. I do. No problem there. I just thought you were damned funny there.
December 10th, 2009 on 10:38 am
Lol,thank you.And hush, don`t ruin my excuse to dance now.Let a man have the simple joys in his life.Dancing is fun,i tell you, especially when you do it spontaneously.
December 10th, 2009 on 1:40 pm
My god… heh.
Anyway, I think it’s just the way of things. Thanks to the internet and frequent DVD releases, shows can afford to show long stories; hell, even sit-coms are sequential now. I wonder what the future will be like: Movies and TV will combine and be shown only on the internet.
December 10th, 2009 on 1:41 pm
OH yeah, there are any number of causes for it. And in the future Movies and TV will be recorded LIVE IN YOUR SPLEEN.
