Have you noticed that movies and TV are reversing themselves?
How so?
More and more TV shows are going toward the British model where they’re basically telling one long story with an end.
Didn’t they always?
No, come on, you have Cheers, it told stories, sure, but it ended when it had to, not a planned story arc ending.
Oh, right I gotcha, sure.
but not more and more shows like Lost or Battlestar Galactica…
they’re coming to a direct end.
Right!
All right, but how are movies doing the reverse?
They want to make franchises, and especially out of old TV shows that never had endpoints.
That’s just… wow… that’s… huh.
Right?
That’s sort of freaky. I hadn’t noticed it before. So movies want to be TV and TV wants to be movies?
I don’t know that it’s on purpose, but it sure looks funny. doesn’t it?
Yeah! And hey remember when a good movie would become a TV show and now it’s the other way around?
Oh hey, yeah! A lot of those were animated, weren’t they?
A fair share, I guess, but even so! Is it me or is that majorly shifting, too?
I don’t think it’s you.
This is almost spooky.
Uhm?
It’s like a Twilight Zone episode.
A TV show that had a movie once!
Yes, but come on. TV and movies, switching places. What’s next? Your books and magazines! And then… then they’ll come for youuuuuuuu!
I’m not sure how they’ll come for people.
Babies! Babies and adults switching places!
So your ultimate horror ending is Freaky Friday?
Oh god!
Yeah. Horrible.
Oh my god it’s full of Jodie Foster!
And we’re done.
What?
Merging a 2001 reference with a Freaky Friday reference? That’s a field penalty.
Is not!
Should be!
But it isn’t!
Should be!
Hmph. You’re just sorry you couldn’t think of it first.
I was going for one of the remakes, I was gonna whip out Fred Savage.
Then you would invoke the Power Glove! Are you ready for that sort of thing, Jacob?
The world wasn’t ready then, and I don’t think I’m ready now.
Then you’ll take your Jodie Foster and you’ll like it.
Fair enough.
Thank you.

GOD! Do you know what I hate what I hate more then anything in the hole world? I hate stupid people, the kind of person who goes on a web sight and just spouts obscenities. Learn some new words asshole!!! God I HATE stupid people!
Now on to the topic that isn’t a hate rant. I’m not old enough to have watched seen Mork and Mindy, but I have seen some clips and it seams like a show I would have watched hade I been alive in the 70s.

Everybody keeps fueling my new chocolate binge.
Anyways, I think books and magazines already switched a long time ago. SF magazines used to be full of short stories, but are now filled more and more with perspectives on the social aspect the stories play or other reflections. Now, SF books are the ones made an issue a week, instead of the novels and compendiums from earlier authors.
If that example doesn’t work, how about a more classic example? The Count of Monte Cristo was released chapter by chapter to the public during its time, showing a much more magazine or TV-like serialization than we would consider of books.
I don’t know where I’m going with this. Excuse me.. xp
